After delivering a blockbuster debut with Saiyaara, Ahaan Panday was basking in the glory of overnight stardom. However, behind the scenes, the young actor was fighting a painful personal battle that fans knew nothing about.
In a recent interview with Esquire India, Ahaan revealed that he quietly underwent a major surgery soon after the film’s release last year. Despite riding high on success, he chose to address a long-standing physical issue that had been troubling him for years.
The surgery, which he described as “one of the most painful procedures you can undergo,” required an extensive recovery period. The issue stemmed from an old snowmobile accident that resulted in a severe shoulder subluxation, significantly affecting his mobility and gym training.
Determined to fully recover before signing his next action-packed project, Ahaan decided to go ahead with the procedure—even though doctors cautioned him that his body would “go back to zero,” making it extremely difficult to rebuild the physique required for an action film.
What followed were months of intense recovery, including a prolonged period in a cast. Surprisingly, the entire phase went largely unnoticed. “I don’t know how nobody realised!” Ahaan remarked, expressing amusement over how he managed to keep it under wraps.
Now fully recovered and back in action, the actor says the challenging phase only strengthened his resolve and helped him prove doubters wrong.
Ahaan is currently preparing for a high-octane action entertainer directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, which also stars Sharvari. The yet-untitled film is scheduled to go on floors on March 30 in Mumbai, followed by a 60-day shooting schedule in the UK.
As part of his transformation for the role, Ahaan is undergoing nearly seven hours of physical training every day, including rigorous action rehearsals and strength training. With renewed determination and discipline, he is gearing up for his next big-screen avatar.
