Ajay Devgn Faces Legal Trouble Over Bholaa Remake

Share

Ajay Devgn has often expressed interest in remaking cult blockbusters from other film industries, but these ventures have frequently brought unexpected challenges. Controversies seem to shadow many of his remake projects.

From creative disagreements to legal disputes over adaptation rights, the actor-director has repeatedly faced issues whenever he attempts to recreate a proven hit in Hindi. The latest controversy involves the Hindi remake of Karthi’s Tamil blockbuster Kaithi, putting Ajay in another tricky situation.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Kaithi was a massive hit and has been remade into several languages. The Hindi version, titled Bholaa, stars Ajay Devgn in the lead and is directed by him as well. Recently, the original production house, Dream Warrior Pictures, filed a complaint against Ajay Devgn, alleging that the Hindi remake exceeded the scope of the rights initially granted.

According to the complaint, the makers of Bholaa made significant changes that potentially breached contractual agreements related to adaptation rights. The production house has stated that if payments are not made within 30 days, the contract will be automatically terminated, and all rights to the film would revert to them. The team behind Bholaa has not yet responded.

This is not the first time Ajay Devgn has faced such issues. His remake of Drishyam also encountered creative and legal challenges, highlighting a recurring pattern with his remake projects. Bholaa was released in 2023, and a sequel is currently underway, keeping the spotlight on Ajay Devgn’s remake ventures.
