Rethinking the Trend of Titles for Telugu Heroes
The trend of assigning grandiose titles to Telugu film heroes, such as Stylish Star or Global Star, often sparks debate. Instead of emphasizing these labels, the focus should ideally be on crafting impactful films with strong narratives that resonate with audiences.
The origin of these titles remains ambiguous. For instance, Allu Arjun is often called the Stylish Star. While he is undoubtedly popular, the rationale behind this title is unclear, as many other actors are equally stylish. Similarly, Ram Charan earned the title of Global Star after the global success of RRR, but the process of bestowing this title raises questions.
Mahesh Babu, referred to as Super Star, inherited this title from his father, Krishna, who earned it through groundbreaking contributions to Telugu cinema. However, whether Mahesh’s career warrants the continuation of this title is debatable. Likewise, Pawan Kalyan’s Power Star title and Jr. NTR’s Young Tiger moniker, though reflective of their personalities or performances, also leave one wondering about their origin.
Even younger actors like Vijay Deverakonda are not exempt, with his Rowdy Star label being another puzzling addition. While such titles may generate hype, they often fail to add genuine value to the actors’ talent or work.
What truly matters is the quality of their films. Telugu heroes would benefit more from prioritizing meaningful cinema with strong storytelling rather than chasing or accepting titles. Lasting respect is earned through impactful performances and memorable movies, not catchy labels. It’s time for the industry to shift its focus from titles to substance, creating cinema that speaks louder than any tagline ever could.
