Akkineni young hero Akhil’s debut film Akhil was released as a Diwali special treat for fans after much delay. Released amidst sky-high expectations, Akhil failed to not even retrieve at least half the investments. The film’s pre-release business touched nearly 50 crores, which resulted in a colossal loss for its producers and distributors.
No, dark clouds are cast on Akhil’ satellite business. Apparently, a couple of leading entertainment channels came forward to grab the crazy film’s satellite rights and were even ready to shell out a whopping cheque. However, the film’s producer Sudhakar Reddy who was ultra confident about the film decided to let go the offers and wait until the film’s release, expecting to cash in extra buck.
With the film’s disastrous result and the family audiences not welcoming the film during it release, Akhil’s satellite rights have not become a huge headache for its producer as no channel is now ready to offer the same amount as earlier. Thanks to no big films around, channels might still show a keen interest on buying the film keeping the Sankranthi season in mind.
