The much-hyped collaboration between reigning star Allu Arjun and sensational director Lokesh Kanagaraj is shaping up to be a high-concept sci-fi superhero entertainer, according to industry sources. The film reportedly revolves around a unique superhero narrative in which the protagonist loses one of his hands in a tragic accident and later battles crime using a powerful metal prosthetic, blending science fiction with larger-than-life action.
Designed as a full-fledged superhero fantasy, the story is said to be inspired by the popular Tamil novel Irumbu Kai Mayavi. Interestingly, Lokesh Kanagaraj had initially developed the concept for a Tamil star, including Suriya, before reworking the script to suit Allu Arjun’s pan-India stature.
Following the massive success of Pushpa: The Rule, Allu Arjun has emerged as a true larger-than-life icon across India. He has already signed a sci-fi thriller with Atlee, and this collaboration with Lokesh is expected to further elevate his image with another ambitious spectacle.
On the auspicious occasion of Bhogi, the makers released a striking conceptual video that offered a glimpse into the film’s world. The visual metaphor presented the protagonist as the “king of the jungle,” symbolised by a lion, while a group of foxes attempts to challenge his dominance—hinting at an intense power struggle and a mythic undertone woven into the narrative.
Tentatively titled #AA23, the film is expected to go on floors in 2026, after Allu Arjun completes his project with Atlee. While many assumed Lokesh Kanagaraj would collaborate with another Tamil star following Coolie, the director surprised fans by officially announcing his film with the Telugu superstar.
The film will feature music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, while Mythri Movie Makers will bankroll this prestigious pan-Indian project, which is already being touted as one of the most exciting collaborations in recent times.
