Naga Chaitanya, Ramya Krishna and Anu Emmanuel. To add to the team, there was director Maruthi, known for his small hits. The story, though old as the hills and used n number of times during the ’80s and ’90s, was a rehash meant for the new-age audiences.
But looks like the new audiences have a taste of their own and found the ‘atta-alludu’ drill a bit hard to digest. In fact, when the film was in the making, there was anticipation that the film will take Naga Chaitanya to next level of stardom. He even shifted some of his dates from Savyasachi to Alludu. But the audiences had a different plan for him and the film failed badly at the box-office.
The film’s fate was obvious from Day 3. While the film had good openings thanks to the promos, by Monday the collections had a downfall and by fourth day, it was obvious that Chaitanya had yet another dud in his kitty. In fact, going by the first day openings, his fans hoped that the film will break into the Rs 40 plus crore category. But that was it.
For now trade circles are not sure if the film will break even at least. Chaitanya delayed Savyasachi pinning high hopes on Sailaja Reddy Alludu. Now his fans fear that the film might turn stale like Sahasam Svasaga Saagipo. And for those who took their chances for Maruthi, ‘Alludu’ ended up squashing their hopes.
