Amarvathi farmers who handed over their fertile lands believing TDP chief and AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu for construction of AP’s new capital city Amaravathi, are now feeling cheated.
The TDP government has acquired 33,567 acres from 22,525 farmers of 29 villages four years ago for construction of Amaravthi, in the name of ‘land pooling’. But the farmers now realised that it’s not ‘land pooling’ but ‘land fooling’.
In return, the government has allotted 56,971 plots to farmers to compensate them for giving away their fertile lands.
However, the government failed to take up any development activity in these plots.
The plots were left in the lurch due to which they have now become waste lands serving the purpose of no one.
As this was not enough, the government has taken up real estate development on it’s lands surrounding these farmers’ plots by making good layouts and constructing apartment and commercial complexes.
With this, buyers are opting for layouts and apartments taken up by government, while there are no takers for plots allotted to farmers, with no development.
Farmers, who used to earn good income on these fertile lands earlier by raising two to three crops, are now suffering huge losses as there is no agricultural income or income through real estate.
Some farmers feel cheated as they were allotted plots facing south, which is considered to be inauspicious as per vastu. These plots also find no takers.
Farmers are now cursing TDP for their ill-fate and vowing to teach a fitting lesson to Naidu in the upcoming Assembly polls.
