However, in a notable exception, Amazon Prime Video has reportedly paid a massive sum for Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film, Jana Nayagan. According to the latest reports, the streaming giant has acquired the film’s OTT rights for over ₹100 crore.
What makes Jana Nayagan even more special is that it marks Vijay’s final film before he fully transitions into politics. The actor has already announced his decision to step away from cinema and focus on his political career ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Directed by the talented H. Vinoth, the film has already entered its final leg of production. Interestingly, the storyline is said to have a strong political backdrop, aligning with Vijay’s real-life aspirations. Given the anticipation surrounding the film, it is no surprise that OTT and satellite deals have fetched a massive sum. Reports suggest that the total business from these rights alone has touched nearly ₹170 crore, making it one of the most lucrative non-theatrical deals for a Tamil film.
With so much riding on Jana Nayagan, it is poised to be a landmark film in Vijay’s illustrious career and a significant cinematic event for his fans.
