Amazon has announced plans to invest more than ₹2,000 crore (approximately $233 million) in India in 2025, reaffirming its long-term commitment to building the country’s most efficient, secure, and reliable operations network. This fresh infusion will focus on upgrading infrastructure, advancing employee welfare, and deploying next-generation technologies to enhance fulfilment capabilities across the nation.

“For over a decade, we’ve been focused on developing world-class logistics infrastructure in India — built for safety, speed, scale, and reliability,” said Abhinav Singh, Vice President of Operations, Amazon India and Australia. “These latest investments reflect our unwavering commitment to expanding and modernising our fulfilment, sortation, and delivery network.”

Key Investment Areas
1. Infrastructure & Technology Upgrades
Amazon plans to launch new sites and upgrade existing ones across its operations network. The enhancements will significantly boost processing capacity, speed, and efficiency. Facilities will be equipped with advanced technologies that lower energy consumption, promote inclusivity, and improve accessibility — particularly for persons with disabilities.

Additional improvements will include upgraded cooling systems, enhanced break areas, and reinforced safety protocols, all geared towards creating a resilient and inclusive logistics backbone.

2. Employee-Centric Initiatives
A substantial portion of the investment will go toward supporting employee welfare through dedicated programmes:

Ashray: Rest points offering water, washrooms, and phone charging stations, available to all delivery associates, including those not directly employed by Amazon.

Samridhi: A financial wellness initiative that provides education and personal finance guidance to associates and drivers.

Pratidhi: A scholarship programme designed to support the education of associates’ children.

Sushruta: A healthcare initiative tailored to address the unique needs of truck drivers.

Additionally, Amazon will organise free health check-ups for over 80,000 delivery associates and partners through nationwide medical camps by the end of 2025.

Technological Advancements for Safety & Efficiency
Amazon is also deploying new digital tools to improve safety and streamline delivery operations. These include:

Route complexity analysers

Real-time alerts for unsafe driving speeds

Rest-break prompts for delivery partners

Enhanced Driver App to provide greater transparency on earnings and benefits

Helmet Adherence Application to ensure proper helmet usage before routes begin

To simplify last-mile operations, Amazon is incorporating photo and video verification for deliveries and refining navigation tools to better handle complex or unstructured addresses.

This investment reflects Amazon’s strategic focus on scaling operations while prioritising sustainability, safety, and employee well-being — laying the foundation for a future-ready logistics network in India.
