Amitabh Bachchan Likely to Voice Jatayu in Ramayana

Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious Ramayana is already one of the most anticipated Indian films in the making, and now, there’s a fresh wave of excitement. Rumors are swirling that legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan may join the film — lending his iconic voice to the role of Jatayu, the noble vulture who attempts to save Sita. While the makers haven’t confirmed anything yet, the very idea has fans buzzing with anticipation.

The film has already made headlines with its star-studded cast: Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. Casting director Mukesh Chhabra previously shared that Ranbir’s calm and composed energy made him the perfect fit for Ram — a character that demands quiet strength rather than overwhelming grandeur. His comments have resurfaced as discussions around the casting continue to gain momentum.

Yash’s portrayal of Ravana is drawing widespread attention — not just for the casting choice, but for the excitement it has already sparked. Director Nitesh Tiwari has expressed admiration for how audiences are embracing the idea of a charismatic Ravana, even before the film’s release. Yash, in turn, called Ramayana a poetic epic, one that transcends typical cinematic emotions with its simplicity and reverence.

The project is being made in two parts, with the first installment set for a Diwali 2026 release, followed by the second in 2027. With a reported budget of ₹1600 crore, Ramayana is easily among the most expensive Indian films ever made.

If Amitabh Bachchan does officially come on board — even in a voice role — it would add yet another layer of gravitas to this already monumental production. For now, the mystery around his involvement is only adding to the film’s mystique — and perhaps, that’s exactly the plan.
