Its known that a supporter of AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa on Monday crucified himself to demand her leader’s return as Tamil Nadu chief minister. Just a day before Jayalalithaa ‘s 67th birthday, a 46-year-old supporter Hussaini nailed himself on a wooden Cross with a demand that she should make a comeback as Chief Minister.
Today Jaya reacted to the ghastly incident . In a letter to an admirer who has nailed himself to a cross in Chennai for her, J Jayalalithaa writes, “While I do appreciate the fervour of your actions, I consider that subjecting oneself to such an extreme act of self-inflicted pain should be avoided.
” Hussaini remained nailed to the cross for six minutes and seven seconds. Doctors from Global Hospitals and Fortis Malar accompanied Hussaini during the event and and rushed him to hospital after the act As per reports there is no major injury to nerves or bones.
Jayalalithaa stepped down as chief minister after a court in Bangalore awarded her a four-year prison term for illegally amassing wealth. After the verdict, she was banned from contesting elections for a decade. She was released on bail later.
While granting her bail, the Supreme Court ordered her to warn her supporters to ensure law and order would not be violated in Tamil Nadu by those seeking to express their solidarity with her.
