Rashmika Mandanna, often referred to as the national crush, has been making waves in Bollywood with back-to-back film signings. Following the massive success of Pushpa and Animal, her stardom has skyrocketed. However, she has also been in the spotlight for various controversies, with the latest being her recent statement about Hyderabad.

During the promotions of her latest film Chhaava, which has opened to a positive response, Rashmika stated, “I am from Hyderabad. I came here alone, and today, I hope I am a part of all your families.” While her intention was likely to connect with her Bollywood audience, her remarks did not sit well with Kannada fans.

Many Kannada netizens started trolling her, accusing her of trying to appease Telugu audiences by distancing herself from Karnataka. Some urged her not to forget her roots, reminding her that she started her journey in Kannada cinema before moving to Telugu and Hindi films. Others defended her, pointing out that she has been based in Hyderabad for years due to her commitments in Telugu cinema, and her statement was not meant to disregard her origins.

Rashmika made her debut in Kannada with Kirik Party and has acted in five Kannada films before shifting her focus to Telugu and Hindi cinema since 2021. In Chhaava, she plays Maharani Yesubai, and despite the off-screen controversy, her performance has been well received.
