In return for the Speaker not taking any action against the YSRCP MLA’s, everyone expected Jagan Reddy to withdraw the ‘no-confidence’ motion his Party moved against the Speaker. Jagan did withdraw it. But interestingly, he said that he did it at the behest of BJP MLA Vishnu Kumar Raju who mediated the truce between the Speaker and YSRCP.
Thus, the BJP has given a face-saving option for Jagan out of the controversy. But it also exposes the double-game of the BJP in AP once again. The BJP is an ally of the TDP. Yet, it wants to sever its ties with the TDP and grow independently. At the same time it is showing signs of warming up to Jagan Reddy.
While Chandrababu Naidu on his Delhi trips could not get the appointment of many Union Ministers, Jagan was given access to them. Now, it has seen to it that YSRCP MLA’s are not suspended by mediating a compromise. While married to TDP, if you think Jagan is the love-interest of BJP, here’s another twister.
In Rayalaseema, Jagan’s stronghold, the BJP has drawn up a massive plan to poach MLA’s and other top Reddy personalities from Jagan’s Party or those having an allegiance to Jagan. The latter of course has his hands tied because of the cases pending against him.
But should a scenario emerge where both Naidu and Jagan decide to go all out against the BJP, then the saffron Party could face the same result in AP as it did in the Delhi elections. Because all said and done, the BJP might be a strong force at the Center, but in AP, it does not have enough clout to take on the TDP or YSRCP and comes a distant third.
