Actress Anasuya Bharadwaj has once again made headlines after a few of her recent interview clips, where she spoke about skin show and her personal fashion choices, went viral on social media. In those videos, Anasuya stated that she has no problem showing skin as long as she feels confident and comfortable. She also urged people, especially men, to stop moral policing her choices.
Following the widespread discussion, Anasuya took to social media today to share a detailed letter, further explaining her perspective. She strongly asserted that motherhood should never be used as a reason to restrict a woman’s individuality or personal style.
“Yes, I am a woman, a wife, and a mother of two. I also enjoy dressing in a way that reflects my personal style. Glamour, style, and confidence have always been an integral part of who I am. Some people seem to believe this doesn’t align with being a mother. I want to ask: does becoming a mother mean giving up your true self?” she wrote.
Anasuya expressed gratitude to her family for their unconditional support. “My family — my husband and children — love me for who I am. They never judge me; they support me. That is what truly matters. I understand that some people may not be used to this level of openness, and that’s fine. But let’s not confuse personal choice with negative influence. My children are growing up witnessing a woman who is confident, kind, respectful, and unapologetically herself,” she added.
Clarifying her stand, the actress mentioned that she has never encouraged others to follow her dressing style, nor does she impose her choices on anyone. “Being bold does not mean being disrespectful. Dressing the way I like doesn’t mean I have lost my values. I am not asking anyone to follow my example. I am simply asking for the same courtesy — respect for individual choice,” she explained.
Concluding her message, Anasuya made a simple yet powerful appeal: let people live their lives on their own terms, free from unsolicited judgment.
