Andhra Pradesh Achieves Record GST Collection in December 2025

Andhra Pradesh has sent a strong economic signal by achieving its highest-ever Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection for December 2025, amounting to ₹2,652 crore. This record comes despite recent GST rate cuts, which typically lead to a short-term dip in revenue, highlighting the resilience and steady growth of the state’s economy.

The December collection marks nine consecutive months of year-on-year growth, reflecting sustained economic activity rather than a one-time spike. Analysts point to stronger consumption, increased business transactions, and improved compliance as key drivers behind this consistent performance.

In percentage terms, the state achieved a growth rate of approximately 6%, surpassing the national average for the same period and securing the second-highest GST growth among southern states. This is particularly significant as southern states traditionally contribute a major share of India’s overall GST revenues.

The rise in collections signals multiple positive trends: higher consumer spending indicates growing household confidence, while increased business turnover points to stronger industrial and commercial activity. Improved tax compliance and digital reporting mechanisms under GST have further strengthened revenue outcomes.

This achievement comes against a backdrop of global economic uncertainty and domestic fiscal adjustments, making it a notable indicator of Andhra Pradesh’s economic revival and stability. If this trend continues, the state government will gain greater fiscal flexibility to invest in infrastructure, welfare, and development initiatives, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a strong performer at the start of the new year.
