In a groundbreaking move, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has launched the WhatsApp Governance Framework, bringing 161 civil services directly to citizens’ fingertips. This initiative, which came into effect yesterday, aims to revolutionize public service accessibility through the widely used messaging platform.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, known for his pioneering efforts in e-governance, credited his son and IT Minister, Nara Lokesh, for conceptualizing this ambitious project. While many applauded Naidu for his vision, he was quick to acknowledge that Lokesh had originally proposed the initiative during his Yuva Galam Padayatra.
Taking to social media, Naidu tweeted, “Today, the GoAP dedicated the ‘Mana Mitra’ initiative to the people of Andhra Pradesh. This landmark initiative, which brings 161 civil services to the fingertips, reflects our commitment to accessible governance. The idea was conceptualized by our IT Minister, Nara Lokesh, during his Yuva Galam Padayatra.”
Notably, Lokesh played a pivotal role in bringing this initiative to life. He held multiple discussions with Meta’s top executives to ensure seamless integration of government services into WhatsApp—an innovation that is unparalleled globally.
With Mana Mitra, Lokesh has cemented his independent vision for governance, distinct yet complementary to his father’s legacy. This initiative stands as a testament to his technological foresight and commitment to making governance more accessible and citizen-friendly.
