‘Animal’ OTT Release Halted Because Of Legal Battle!

Sensational director Sandeep Reddy Vanga created some huge records with his ‘Animal’ at the box office. The film earned around 900 crores worldwide in just a month and received a lot of love from the audience. There are a lot of critics who bashed the film as they found it disturbing, misogynistic, violent, brutal and traumatic. With the film’s theatrical run coming to an end, the people are eager to watch it on OTT.

It was reported that the movie is expected to be streamed on Netflix from 26th January but Cine 1 Studios Private have filed a lawsuit against T-Series claiming that the renowned banner did not pay their share of profits. They claim that they are entitled to a 35% profit share and the movie should not be released on Netflix until this issue is settled.

Senior Advocate Sandeep Sethi who represents Cine 1 in this legal battle claimed, “They (T-Series) have been collecting all the money but I have not been paid a single penny… I have a long relationship with them but they do not respect the agreement. I had the regard for the relationship and the sanctity of the contract, therefore, I did not rush to court.”

On the contrary, Amit Sibal who appeared for T-Series said, “This amendment has been concealed. They got ₹2.6 crore. They have not put a pie in the movie and yet got ₹2.6 crores.” Sethi stated, “In this plaint (in the lawsuit), he has concealed all this and in the very first paragraph he asserts that he is 35 percent owner of the intellectual property rights in the film, and on this basis, he seeks an interim prayer that the release on Netflix should be stopped because he is part owner of the copyright of the film.” Let us see what happens on Thursday as the court adjourned the case for now.
