Anirudh Ravichander, who made a sensational debut with 3 (Moonu), has since become one of the most celebrated music directors in Indian cinema. Over the years, he has collaborated with top stars and carved a special place for himself in the hearts of music lovers. His Telugu debut came with Agnyaathavaasi, and though the film didn’t fare well, his music immediately struck a chord with the audience. Later, with Jersey, he delivered a blockbuster album that cemented his bond with Telugu audiences.
In fact, the Telugu audience affectionately nicknamed him “Bakkodu” for his lean frame—a name Anirudh himself acknowledges. Speaking at the Kingdom pre-release event, Anirudh said,
“It’s been 13 years since my first film 3 was released. Since then, the love I’ve received from Telugu audiences has been overwhelming. I’m forever grateful for it. Yours, Anirudh Ravichander aka Bakkodu.”
This candid statement confirmed that Anirudh keeps track of social media trends and knows how deeply Telugu fans admire him.
Anirudh’s music knows no boundaries. Whether it’s his energetic background scores or soulful melodies, his work consistently creates waves across all languages. Films like Master, Vikram, Devara, and especially Jailer have showcased his ability to elevate storytelling through music. Even Tamil films dubbed into Telugu have performed well, thanks to the magic of his compositions.
Jersey remains a milestone in his Telugu journey, connecting him emotionally with the audience and marking the true beginning of his era in Tollywood. Despite occasional delays in Telugu projects, Anirudh always silences critics with his quality output.
Now, with Kingdom, starring Vijay Deverakonda, Satyadev, and Bhagyashri Borse, Anirudh has once again delivered a powerful soundtrack. The film, releasing on July 31st, promises another musical treat from “Bakkodu,” the music director Telugu fans proudly call their own.
