The second half of the year saw several big budget movies going bust. Bruce Lee, Akhil and Size Zero have ended up as disasters both in the local market and in the world market. Bengal Tiger has however reached Rs 30 crore level business. Another film too is doing robust business. That is Sharwanand starrer Express Raja. Buyers are evincing keen interest in buying the movie. Trade sources say that the film was sold for fancy rates both in domestic as well as overseas market. Distributors are vying to buy the film. There are several reasons for this.
Firstly, Sharwanand is on the upswing. He has given quite a few hits. His range has gone up after the ‘Run Raja Run’ movie. Director Merlapaka Gandhi, who scored a hit with his first film, is another reason. Gandhi waited for quite some time after the first film and then did lot of exercise on the second film. Trust in both the director and the hero has reportedly helped the film zoom into the Rs 20 crore level. One has to wait for some time to know if the raciness in the film’s title lives up to the expectation and the collections justify it.
