Veteran actor Anupam Kher recently met Colonel Sofiya Qureshi of the Indian Army and expressed deep admiration for her trailblazing service and extraordinary courage. As a gesture of respect and appreciation, Kher presented her with a signed copy of his fourth self-help book, Different But No Less.
Sharing a moment from their meeting on Instagram, Kher posted a photograph in which he and Colonel Qureshi are seen posing with the book. The actor captioned the post:
“Operation Sindoor: I was extremely happy and deeply honoured to meet Col. #SofiyaQureshi recently and present her my fourth #SelfHelp book #DifferentButNoLess! She epitomises grace, valour, dignity and bravery of the #IndianArmy. Thank you, Col. Qureshi, for your warmth and appreciation! Jai Hind! #Proud.”
Colonel Sofiya Qureshi is a highly respected officer in the Indian Army’s Corps of Signals and is celebrated for breaking gender barriers within the armed forces. She made history as the first woman to lead an Indian Army contingent in a multinational military exercise. More recently, she drew national attention for leading the official media briefing during Operation Sindoor—the Indian Army’s response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
Meanwhile, on the cinematic front, Anupam Kher’s latest film Tanvi the Great continues to garner acclaim. The film was recently declared tax-free in both Delhi and Madhya Pradesh. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, announcing the decision on social media, described the film as “an inspiring story of a young, ‘special’ girl, Tanvi, who is determined to achieve her dreams against all odds.” She added, “We are committed to promoting films that strengthen the spirit of Rashtra Seva, ignite patriotism, and awaken the conscience of the nation.”
Similarly, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav declared the film tax-free in the state following a special screening held in Bhopal on July 22.
Tanvi the Great has been praised for its powerful message of inclusion and resilience, further solidifying Kher’s commitment to impactful storytelling both on and off screen.
