In yet another cold-blooded backtracking by the ruling BJP, the party’s union minister HP Choudary today said that Andhra Pradesh does not need the special status since the central government is implementing all the promises made in the AP Reorganization Act.

The minister said that the act had suggested all the necessities of Andhra Pradesh and that the NDA government is rightly following the act for the welfare of the residual Andhra Pradesh.

The minister made these comments during a discussion on the Private Member Bill which was introduced in the Rajya Sabha with regard to special status to AP.

HP Choudary further said that the Niti Ayog Committee has been scrutinizing the Reorganization Act and that the committee will soon submit its report over financial assistance to Andhra Pradesh.

The minister also said that Rs. 2,050 crores were allotted to Amaravati construction and another 750 crores were given to bail out the 7 economically backward districts in the state by the union government.
