APCID Probe Into ₹2 Crore Transfer to Yatra 2 Production House

During a recent session in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, the Ministry of Information & Public Relations (I&PR) responded to a query that has sparked a major political controversy.

According to the official reply, ₹2 crore was transferred to Three Autumn Leaves and A Story LLP, the production house behind the film Yatra 2. The payment was reportedly made under the pretext of producing videos related to government schemes and welfare programs during the tenure of former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

However, following a forensic examination of financial records by the investigation department under the current government led by N. Chandrababu Naidu, it was allegedly found that the amount received was subsequently disbursed to the cast and crew associated with Yatra 2. Investigators suspect that the transaction may have been linked to the making of the political biographical film, which portrays the political journey of Jagan Mohan Reddy and his rise to power after the demise of his father, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

The Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (APCID) is currently probing the matter. If any irregularities are formally established, filmmaker Mahi V. Raghav could potentially face legal consequences, including recovery proceedings related to the funds.

The issue has reignited debates over the alleged misuse of public funds between 2019 and 2024. Adding to the controversy are earlier reports that land was proposed to be allocated to the filmmaker for a studio project in Horsley Hills — a move that was reportedly stalled following public criticism.

Meanwhile, Yatra 2 underperformed at the box office and did not create significant electoral impact during the 2024 General Elections, as per political observers.
