AR Murugadoss Opens Up on Bollywood Struggles

Ace director AR Murugadoss, known for his blockbuster action entertainers, is currently busy with Madraasi, starring Sivakarthikeyan. As part of the film’s promotions, the director candidly spoke about his challenges while working in Bollywood.

Murugadoss admitted that he has always felt out of place in Hindi cinema. “I don’t really understand the pulse of Bollywood,” he confessed, explaining that he feels far more comfortable working in Tamil because he knows the audience, their tastes, the slang, the emotions, and the youth culture.

“In Hindi, it’s like a completely different world. My scripts first get translated into English and then into Hindi. I have a clear vision in my mind, but when it plays out on set, it feels different,” he said.

The director also revealed that language has been a huge barrier. Since he can’t fully connect with the dialogues or delivery, he ends up depending entirely on his screenplay. “On Hindi sets, I honestly feel like a handicapped person,” he added. While he said he can still manage a little with Telugu films, Hindi remains a tough space for him to adapt to.

Meanwhile, Madraasi is shaping up as a large-scale action drama. The film features Rukmini Vasanth as the female lead and has music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. It is gearing up for a grand release on September 5.
