Arrest of Dasari at any minute

Noose is tightening around noted director and former union minister Dasari Narayana Rao’s neck in the coal scam. Reports suggest that the CBI might arrest him any minute as it was now found that Dasari gave away coal to the Jindal group, ignoring the directions of the then Energy minister Sushil Kumar Shinde.

CBI found that Dasari disregarded the directions of Shinde, not to allot 4 coal blocks to the companies owned by Congress MP Navin Jindal. Dasari was minister of state for coal and mines at the time.

Navin Jindal’s company applied for allocation of 4 coal blocks in Jharkhand. Apart from Jindal’s company, ‘Bhshan Energy’ also applied for the coal blocks. When Shinde directed that that the two companies be allotted two blocks each, Dasari sanctioned all the four blocks to Jindal Steel and Power company.

CBI seized the correspondence between the departments of Energy and Coal and Mining before and after the allocations. Because of the decision taken by Dasari, coal mines of 663 million tons were given away to Jindal. CBI also found that in a quid pro quo operation, Jindal Group invested Rs. 2.25 crore in the Siri Media, owned by Dasari.
