AstraZeneca is safe and being produced in several nations, says UK PM

British-Swedish multinational pharmaceutical AstraZeneca faced a setback after major European countries like Germany, France, Italy, and Spain have suspended the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine usage in vaccination drive due to blood clot fears.

Days after the development, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson came in support of AstraZeneca’s safety and said the vaccine is safe and the blood clots are not related to the vaccine.

In his latest interview to a leading daily, the Prime Minister said AstraZeneca’s jab was not harmful and said the vaccine is being made in multiple nations like India and the United States.

Talking about vaccine safety, Boris Johnson said the country’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is one of the toughest regulators in the world and the vaccines will not be approved without proper evidence.

Several nations have reported incidents of blood clots among beneficiaries who were administered with the AstraZeneca vaccine. As a precautionary measure, these nations have suspended vaccine usage.

However, AstraZeneca and British medical experts have claimed that the vaccine jab is very safe and no strong evidence has been found to prove the vaccine is the reason for blood clots.

The British-Swedish pharma giant AstraZeneca has joined hands with the University of Oxford to produce the vaccine against the Coronavirus. The vaccine dose named AstraZeneca vaccine is being manufactured in several nations.
