‘Avoid speaking Telugu or your mother tongue in public places in the United states of America’! This is not a warning from anyone else but a strong suggestion from our own Telugu organizations in the USA, after the recent tragic developments, that resulted in death of a Telugu person in racist argument.
Telangana American Telugu Association (TATA) general secretary Vikram Jangam urged Telugu people in the USA to watch their own behavior and conversations in public places, as many a time what we speak puts us in danger.
Vikram even suggested to stay away from arguments in public and maintain distance from provoking people. It is always better to leave that place and speak in English where you meet the fellow Telugites in public areas. Avoid walking or visiting the deserted places and do call 911 in emergency situations, and better avoid the places that look suspicious.
A Telugu techie working in US asked to avoid long conversations with unknown native Americans. Many Telugu people live in California, Washington DC and New York and they were not impacted by these shootings in Kansas as they claim freindly response from all Americans they met so far.
