Baahubali Malayalam Distributor Scales down Screens

Malayalam film industry’s exhibitors have suddenly called for bundh in Kerala from today – a day before the release of Baahubali.

The reason given by the Kerala Film Exhibitors Federation was that the bundh call was against the piracy of a Malayalam movie Premam.

But the production house that bought the rights for Malayalam version of Baahubali see a conspiracy behind this move. They allege that all this is being done to stop the mammoth openings that Baahubali is about to get in Kerala.

Global United Media that recently released Shankar’s I in Kerala in record number of screens had planned a similar release strategy for Baahubali.

The company planned to release in 250 screens across Kerala as there is huge demand for the movie but they are now forced to scale down the screens to 125.

The Malayalam film industry is feeling threatened from Telugu films, so they have given a bandh call in the pretext of Premam piracy, said one industry observer. Global United Media is hoping that the movie would run smoothly from Friday.
