Baahubali Movie Review
Baahubali is the story set in the ancient era. Shivudu (Prabhas) leads a reclusive life in a poor forest village near Mahishmathi Kingdom after he was orphaned with certain circumstances. He falls in love with Avanthika (Tamannah), the princess of a Rebel army waiting for its chance to pounce on Mahishmathi. The link between Shivudu and Mahishmathi forms the actual story.
Performances:
Prabhas had come up with a good performance as a whole but appeared ordinary at times. This is the career best performance of Rana as a villain and he looked like an apt for the character. Tamannah takes care of the glamour quotient and is apt for the role.
Ramya Krishna as Sivagami lived up to her stature and is one of the major highlights of the film. Kannada Star Sudeep appeared in a little cameo and he is good. Prabhakar, Satyaraj and Nasser have played their part up to their reputation.
Technical Performances:
Baahubali as a whole is a visual splendour with high octane Period drama. The movie which boasts of a stellar casting managed to deliver extraordinary Art work, VFX and interesting war theme. It is one of the rare moments where all the technical departments had excelled.
The first half of the film is largely good with some very good scenes while the second half do not live up to the huge expectations. Especially the much hyped war sequence, definitely it has its moments but do not justify the hype totally. We also feel that the movie has ended abruptly may be due to the other part releasing next year.
The major negative is with the lack of strong emotional conflict in the story which do not do as much as justice to the extraordinary visual content and Rajamouli’s vision. Some how we also get the feel that the story can be completed in a single part as the run time seem to be excruciatingly long.
MM Keeravani’s back ground score is the soul of the film. Most of the songs are situational and couple of melodies are shot very well. The item song however is just average. Senthil’s Camera work is good but his hard work is mostly behind the scene as so much of blue mat work is done. Editing is adequate. Production Values are just out of the world.

Final Word:
Baahubali is a visual wonder where you can feel that hard work of the cast and crew in every frame. Rajamouli’s vision had just taken the Indian Cinema to the next level. But in the cinematic point of view, the movie misses some thing called a soul which gives you the contended feeling once you walk out of the theaters. But it is definitely a one time watch.
