Babu Plans Mother of all B-schools in Amaravati

AP CM Chandrababu Naidu, who is working hard to outdo his own legacy that he left behind in Telangana, is busy drawing up a blueprint to set up a premier institute of excellence in Business Management in Amaravati, AP’s capital region.

The institute is aimed at to outshine the ISB, Hyderabad. Proposed to set up in 100 acres with a cost of Rs 500 Crore, the institute would be built with public private partnership (PPP) mode.

London School of Economics, Harvard Kennedy School, National University of Singapore as well as the University of Birmingham as well as the who’s who of the global corporate world. Various UN agencies, the World Bank, ADB and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation have been touted to be the global partners for the project.

It is learnt that the idea is that each of the 10 industry partners would contribute 50 Crore under their CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and they would be made part of the governing board.

Pramath Raj Sinha, the founding dean of ISB and co-founder of Ashoka University has been approached and Pramath said to have given his nod to be the consultant and anchor the institute. The former chief secretary SP Tucker, who is also executive vice-chairman of AP Economic Development Board, has been appointed as the mentor of the proposed premier institute.

The institute would be modelled around ISB, but on a much larger scale. What’s more? Unlike other Business Schools, the premier B-school to be set up in Amaravati would work with a vision to include elimination of poverty and development of society.
