The Kingdom of Bahrain will pause routine government operations next week as the nation prepares to celebrate two significant national occasions. Citizens and residents will receive designated holidays to honour Bahrain’s heritage, leadership, and ongoing progress, following the government’s announcement of official public holidays.

Government Declares Two-Day National Holiday

A formal circular issued by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, confirms that all ministries, public authorities, and government institutions will remain closed on Tuesday, December 16, and Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

Significance of the Holidays

National Day commemorates Bahrain’s historic milestones, its development journey, and the unity of its people.

Accession Day marks the anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s ascension to the throne, celebrating his leadership and the nation’s progress under his guidance.

Together, these consecutive holidays underscore Bahrain’s national pride and the strong relationship between the leadership and its citizens.

What Residents Should Know

With government offices closed, individuals with pending official work are encouraged to reschedule their plans. While essential services may remain operational, some may adjust their working hours. Residents are advised to check directly with relevant departments for updated timings.

The two-day break offers Bahrainis and expatriates an opportunity to celebrate, take part in community events, and reflect on the Kingdom’s achievements while looking forward to continued growth. The directive applies uniformly across all state-run entities throughout the Kingdom.
