The momentum infused by ‘Bahubali’ and ‘Srimanthudu’ to Tollywood Box Office or say even Indian Box Office in the months of July and August is slowly getting decelerated. Very rarely do we see such phenomenon of ‘Bahubali’ and ‘Srimanthudu’ evolving as back to back industry hits showing the power of Telugu Cinema/South Cinema or Indian Cinema to world audience.
Interestingly SS Rajamouli’s ‘Bahubali’ entering into 500 Crores club cumulatively in all the languages has showed a positive effect on Mahesh Babu’s ‘Srimanthudu’ which easily touched 100 Crores mark in its overall business. Trade analysts began to rate this as golden era and Telugu audience enjoyed a sudden elevation of our industry standards to International level.
Onus lied on Raviteja ‘Kick 2,’ Manchu Vishnu ‘Dynamite,’ Ram ‘Shivam,’ Gunasekhar ‘Rudhramadevi,’ Ramcharan ‘Bruce Lee’ and Akkineni Akhil debut film ‘Akhil’ to continue the winning propulsion. However, all of them drastically failed to meet our expectations. In contrast, Nani’s ‘Bhale Bhale Magadivoy,’ Varun Tej’s ‘Kanche’ and Ohmkar’s ‘Raju Gari Gadi’ tried their best to re-ignite the ‘Bahubali’ force to Box Office. Finally, the trade equations of October and November look very weak as the winning drive instilled by ‘Bahubali, Srimanthudu’ is completely getting killed. Tollywood is back to its unseemly base surface. Present Tollywood needs one more energy tonic.
