Three-time Hindupur MLA and senior actor Balakrishna once again made headlines in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly with his sharp remarks. In a veiled reference to former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan, Balakrishna called him a “psycho gadu.” Although he did not explicitly name Jagan, the target was evident.
Known for his fiery speeches, Balakrishna’s choice of words has raised eyebrows. While calling Jagan a “psycho” may create short-term political buzz, it risks undermining the decorum of the Assembly. Adding Chiranjeevi into the mix has further complicated the matter, sparking fresh controversy.
The situation becomes even more delicate because Chiranjeevi’s younger brother, Pawan Kalyan, serves as the Deputy Chief Minister in the same government that Balakrishna represents. Indirectly targeting Chiranjeevi could put Pawan in an uncomfortable position. With the TDP and Jana Sena sharing power in the state, such remarks could strain relations within the alliance in the future.
Political heat is expected, but personal attacks and film references in the Assembly may backfire. Balakrishna could have focused solely on critiquing Jagan’s governance instead of using terms like “psycho” or invoking Chiranjeevi’s name.
For now, this has escalated into a war of words, with YSRCP leaders retaliating by questioning Balakrishna’s past and branding him the “real psycho.” How this dynamic will unfold within the NDA coalition, especially with Pawan as Deputy CM, remains uncertain. One thing is clear — with just a single phrase, Balakrishna has once again ensured that Andhra politics remains abuzz.
