Popular Tollywood producer and actor and politician Bandla Ganesh was on Thursday remanded to judicial custody for 14 days by a Kadapa court.
No, this is not related to his arrest by the Jubilee Hills police on Wednesday in connection with the threatening of financer and producer Potluri V Prasad earlier this month. This is pertaining to a cheque bounce case in Kadapa.
Ganesh had been avoiding appearing before the Kadapa district magistrate despite being summoned several times.
The case pertains to Ganesh taking Rs 13 crore as loan from a person by name Mahesh from Kadapa in 2011. He did not return money despite repeated reminders.
Finally, Ganesh gave a cheque to Mahesh in 2013, but it got bounced. As a result, Mahesh filed a criminal cheating case against Ganesh in the Kadapa police station.
The case went to the court but Ganesh had been avoiding appearing in the court, which had no option but to issue an arrest warrant.
Soon after he was arrested by the Jubilee Hills police on Wednesday, the Kadapa police came to Hyderabad on a PT warrant and took Ganesh to Kadapa. He was produced in the court, which sent him to jail till November 4.
It is learnt another financier from Mumbai also filed a case against Ganesh. If he gets bail in Kadapa case, he would be arrested by the Mumbai police, sources said.
The Jubilee Hills police had already filed a case against Bandla Ganesh under sections 420 (cheating), 448 (house trespass) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC.
