Sangeeth Shobhan Makes Honest Confession About Mad Square

Mad emerged as one of the successful youthful entertainers in recent Telugu cinema, quickly gaining a strong fan following. Riding on the film’s success, the makers soon moved ahead with its sequel, Mad Square. However, one of the film’s lead actors recently made an interesting revelation about the sequel.
Actor Sangeeth Shobhan, who played a key role in the first film, shared in a recent interview that if given another chance, he might have approached the sequel differently. Speaking during the promotions of Rakasa, he admitted that the team made Mad Square in a bit of a hurry.
According to Sangeeth, after the success of Mad, the team had gone to Goa to relax and celebrate. During that trip, they casually discussed a few ideas which later turned into the storyline for the sequel. Director Kalyan Shankar eventually pitched the concept to producer Naga Vamsi, who quickly encouraged the team to develop it into a full-fledged film.
Sangeeth explained that while the film is not bad, the decision to make the sequel was somewhat impulsive. He mentioned that although producer Naga Vamsi’s enthusiasm and courage played a major role in bringing the project to life, the team might have taken a different approach if they had more time.
Interestingly, Naga Vamsi himself had earlier acknowledged that the sequel was produced quickly and that the team could have benefited from more time during the development stage. Despite that, Mad Square managed to attract a section of the audience who even liked it more than the original film.
Many fans on social media still discuss the rapid production of the sequel and whether additional time could have improved the film further. Given director Kalyan Shankar’s reputation as a talented writer and filmmaker, there is a belief that the sequel might have turned out even better with more preparation.
Nevertheless, Mad Square performed decently at the box office, successfully capitalizing on the strong popularity and hype created by the first film. The experience may also serve as a valuable lesson for the team moving forward, ensuring that future projects receive the time and planning they deserve.
