The medium of cinema always has a strong impact on the audience and the society on a larger scale. And in a country like India where films are treated as an integral part of life, the sensitivity is high and it always matters as to what the celluloid product is offering. The response and emotional reaction is somewhat higher in big budget films but the filmnagar circles are now talking about another film which seems to have rubbed a few on the wrong side.
The film is ‘Mana Kurralle’ and recently, a private screening was held for few members of the film and media fraternity. They state that on the hindsight, it might trigger a big controversy especially with the IT Industry professionals, few political bigwigs and real estate tycoons. They say “A film which has one or two objectionable scenes or dialogues can be removed but if the theme revolves around some real life incidents then it is difficult to make amends.” The film has been made with the year 2007 as the backdrop when the IT revolution and Real Estate bubble was at its peak and to the present day.
It is heard that the storyline takes a dig at how these two fields have broken the back of the middle class section and especially the impact it caused on youngsters from villages and towns. Directed and produced by Veera Sanker of ‘Gudumba Shankar’ fame, the film has Arvind Krishna as the protagonist along with Rachana Malhotra, Raj Kalyan, Sruthi Raj, Rao Ramesh in the principal cast. As for the controversy, let us wait for November 21st and see what kind of feathers this film will ruffle.
