BCCI, the richest Cricket body in the world, is going to give Indian cricketers, the highest paid cricketers in the world, a 100 percent salary hike.
The Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) has come up with a proposal that will add Rs 200 Cr to the present sum of cricketers’ salaries, Rs 180 Cr, making it a total of Rs 380 Cr. The salaries of both international and domestic Indian players are expected to be doubled if BCCI ratifies this proposal.
As of now, 26% of BCCI’s annual revenue is paid towards players’ salaries – 13% for international players, 10.6% for domestic cricketers and the rest for women and junior cricketers. After BCCI ratifies the proposal of 100 percent hike, salary of all these players will get a hike, for ex: Team India captain Virat Kohli will earn in excess of Rs. 10 Cr compared to the Rs 5.5 Cr he earned from 46 matches in 2017.
This development comes weeks after Virat Kohli and chief coach Ravi Shastri had demanded for a hike in the players’ yearly salaries. The hike will be effective from next season.
