Pawan Kalyan’s much-awaited gangster drama OG is already rewriting records in trade circles, weeks ahead of its release. Directed by Sujeeth and bankrolled by DVV Danayya, the film’s pre-release business has taken the industry by storm.
Danayya reportedly struck theatrical deals at premium rates even before Hari Hara Veera Mallu could test the market, refusing to slash even a single rupee from his asking price. The gamble paid off handsomely.
In Andhra, rights were sold for a staggering ₹80 crore, while Ceded fetched ₹23 crore and Nizam closed at ₹50 crore. Insiders note that the Nizam figure could climb even higher with revised ticket rates. Andhra, backed by special shows and enhanced pricing, is expected to make recovery smoother for buyers.
The strong confidence in OG stems from Sujeeth’s meticulous script development, which was refined with inputs from Trivikram, giving the film added weight and credibility.
However, the stakes are monumental. For OG to justify its ₹80 crore Andhra valuation, it will need to surpass the benchmark set by Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2, which collected ₹70 crore in the region.
With overseas demand already red-hot, trade analysts believe the film’s fate hinges on its opening weekend performance. If the special shows explode as expected and the hype carries through, distributors could recover their investments in record-breaking time.
