The filmmaker has confirmed that the movie will primarily be released in CinemaScope with a 1.90:1 aspect ratio, while select and crucial portions will expand into a wider 1.43:1 frame, offering audiences a truly immersive cinematic experience.

Following this clarification, several moviegoers raised concerns about possible black bars or blackouts during the aspect ratio shifts. Addressing this, Rajamouli made it clear that there will be no blackouts whatsoever. Instead of abrupt cuts, the screen will seamlessly expand and contract, ensuring a smooth and distraction-free viewing experience.

This technique, though rare, has been used earlier in select premium formats, where the frame gradually expands rather than switching suddenly. In Varanasi, the director plans to begin the film in scope and progressively widen the frame as the narrative builds toward the interval. The same visual pattern will continue in the second half, with the frame expanding and contracting based on the scale and emotional weight of the scenes, culminating in a grand climax.
