Rajamouli Praises Priyanka’s Power-Packed Versatility

Filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli has showered praise on global star Priyanka Chopra Jonas, describing her as one of the rare performers who can seamlessly transition from vulnerability to fierce strength on screen.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Rajamouli lauded Priyanka’s versatility and screen presence. He wrote that she is “one of the few actors who can be utterly vulnerable at one moment and ferociously strong the next.” Referring to her recent project The Bluff, he added that the film stands as another testament to her talent, particularly highlighting her action-packed performance and gripping pace.
Priyanka will also be seen in Rajamouli’s ambitious upcoming epic action-adventure, tentatively titled Varanasi. The film stars Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran in key roles. The story reportedly follows the adventures of Rudhra as the sacred city of Varanasi faces the impending threat of an asteroid. The narrative is said to span multiple timelines and continents, blending mythology, adventure, and global-scale drama.
Rajamouli is believed to have envisioned the project as a globetrotting spectacle rooted in Indian cultural themes, drawing inspiration from classic adventure cinema. The film has been shot extensively across Hyderabad, Odisha, and Kenya. With an estimated budget ranging between ₹1,000 and ₹1,300 crore, Varanasi is poised to become one of the most expensive Indian films ever made. It is currently slated for a theatrical release in April 2027.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas began her acting journey with the Tamil film Thamizhan in 2002, followed by her Bollywood debut in The Hero: Love Story of a Spy. She soon rose to prominence with films like Andaaz and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, before delivering a breakthrough performance in Aitraaz.
Her stardom soared further with blockbuster franchises like Krrish and Don, along with their successful sequels Krrish 3 and Don 2. She won the National Film Award for her powerful portrayal of a troubled model in Fashion.
Over the years, she has earned critical acclaim for diverse performances in Kaminey, 7 Khoon Maaf, Barfi!, Mary Kom, Dil Dhadakne Do, and Bajirao Mastani.
With Rajamouli’s ambitious vision and Priyanka’s global appeal, Varanasi is shaping up to be one of the most eagerly awaited cinematic events in the coming years.
