SS Rajamouli has mastered the art of generating massive buzz around his films without revealing much—whether it’s the budget or even crucial cast details. Naturally, speculation has been running high around Varanasi, his much-anticipated project starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra.

Until a few months ago, reports suggested the film was being mounted on a ₹600 crore budget. Soon, the numbers climbed to ₹800 crore, with some Mumbai media outlets further inflating the figure by another ₹200 crore. Adding fuel to the ongoing chatter, popular comedian and television host Kapil Sharma casually mentioned that the film’s budget stood at a staggering ₹1,300 crore.

When Kapil directly questioned Priyanka Chopra about the reported budget, the actress handled it with grace and wit. She smiled and deftly sidestepped the question, choosing neither to confirm nor deny the figures. As Kapil jokingly suggested that Rajamouli increased the budget after her inclusion, Priyanka laughed it off, quipping that she was pocketing the entire amount herself.

Her light-hearted response made one thing clear—the ever-growing budget figures have less to do with facts and more to do with amplifying the hype surrounding the film.
