Border 2 Early Screenings Cancelled Due to Digital Print Delay

The release of Border 2, starring Sunny Deol in the lead role, faced last-minute disruptions as several early morning screenings were cancelled due to delays in content delivery. Although the film was slated to hit cinemas on January 23, 2026, the digital prints were not made available to theatre chains until late the previous night, causing confusion around the 9 a.m. shows. Many theatres had to cancel these screenings and notify ticket holders with “show cancelled” messages.
Sources reveal that digital service providers, including UFO Moviez, had informed regional distributors and cinema owners late last night about potential delays in the download process. Exhibitors reportedly received an official WhatsApp message stating:
“Dear all, download of Border 2 will start at 6:30 a.m. tentatively on 23 January, 2026. Please keep the system ON. Thanks. UFO MOVIEZ.”
The delay was further compounded by the film’s length of 3 hours and 19 minutes, which requires a longer-than-usual download time. As a result, first-day, first-show screenings were widely postponed across multiple locations.
At the time of writing, neither the producers nor the distributors of the film have issued an official statement addressing the issue.
Directed by Anurag Singh, the film stars an ensemble cast including Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, and Ahan Shetty. Border 2 has been generating significant pre-release buzz, thanks to its nostalgic appeal and war-based storyline.
