BJP Turns Down Pawan’s Invitation

In a swift move, the BJP had declined to be part of the long march that Jana Sena is planning in Visakhapatnam on November 3 against the state government’s failure on sand supply.

On Wednesday, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan telephoned to BJP state unit president Kanna Lakshminarayana and invited him to join the long march.

However, BJP state vice-president S Vishnuvardhan Reddy, replied to Jana Sena turning down the offer.

Vishnuvardhan Reddy said that the BJP had been fighting on the issue from the beginning and there was no need for the party to support Jana Sena’s agitation on the issue.

Moreover, the BJP is planning for a big protest in Vijayawada on November 4 and made an appeal to the rank and file of the party to join the protest.

“There is no need for BJP or its president Kanna Lakshminarayana to support Pawan Kalyan’s agitation. We have our own protest programmes and we have our own line,” Vishnuvardhan Reddy said in a statement.

“It was the BJP which wrote an open letter to the chief minister on the issue. It was the BJP that met the Governor and submitted a representation on the issue and begged on the streets of Guntur in support of the building workers,” Vishnuvardhan Reddy said.

“We support the cause and we have our own concern. But, there is no need for us to play a second fiddle to any party,” the BJP leader said.

While the BJP had rejected the Jana Sena invitation, it is to be seen what other parties, including the TDP, do!
