Blinkit Expands into Tech: Quick Delivery of Smartphones and Gadgets

In a major expansion of its quick commerce offerings, Blinkit has broadened its portfolio to include the rapid delivery of smartphones such as the Redmi 13 5G, Redmi 14C, iPhone 16, and Nokia 105. Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa confirmed the move in a post on X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing the company’s mission to offer greater convenience to consumers in need of gadgets on short notice. Alongside smartphones, Blinkit is also rolling out a range of accessories, including wireless earbuds, power banks, charging cables, and smartwatches in select cities. This expansion signifies a notable shift for Blinkit and other quick commerce platforms, which have traditionally been associated with the delivery of daily essentials but are now venturing into tech products to meet the rising demand in India.

Blinkit is not alone in capitalizing on this trend. Rivals Swiggy Instamart and Zepto have also stepped into the tech domain. Swiggy Instamart now offers a range of gadgets, including earphones, speakers, soundbars, smartwatches, and computer accessories such as keyboards, mice, and storage devices. Meanwhile, Zepto, in January 2025, announced the launch of premium Asus accessories, such as mice and keyboards, with delivery available in key cities like Delhi NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.

India’s quick commerce sector has experienced explosive growth in recent years. Valued at approximately $3 billion in 2023, the market is projected to surge to $40 billion by 2030. Consumer demand for fast deliveries has driven this rapid expansion, with sales expected to rise to $6 billion in 2024, up from $3.5 billion the previous year.

The competitive landscape has also become more intense. Blinkit currently leads the market with a 46% share, followed by Zepto at 29%, and Swiggy Instamart at 25%. Adding to the competition, Amazon has entered the quick commerce space, testing 15-minute grocery delivery services, which could further disrupt the market.
