New Delhi: Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming film Bandar (Monkey in a Cage), starring Bobby Deol in the lead, is all set to premiere at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) under the Special Presentations section. The prestigious festival will take place from September 4 to September 14, 2025.
Bobby Deol shared the first poster of the film on Instagram, captioning it: “The story that should not have been told… but is the official selection at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival 2025. Our film, inspired by true events, is premiering at #TIFF50 #Bandar #MonkeyinaCage.”
Based on real-life events, Bandar also features Sanya Malhotra in a significant role. Bobby Deol, who is currently enjoying a diverse phase in his career, was recently seen in the Telugu film Daaku Maharaj and had a cameo in Housefull 5. His upcoming projects include Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1, Alpha, and Jana Nayagan.
Director Anurag Kashyap, renowned for critically acclaimed films like Gangs of Wasseypur, Black Friday, and Dev D, is no stranger to TIFF — he previously served as an ambassador for the festival in 2020.
Joining Bandar at TIFF 2025 are other notable Indian films such as Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound and the iconic Sholay, marking a strong representation of Indian cinema at the international stage this year.
