Vishwak Sen, who previously delivered three consecutive box-office successes, is currently going through a relatively dull phase in his career. Santosh Sobhan, meanwhile, has had an uneven journey in the industry and even took an extended break from films. Despite these contrasting trajectories, the pre-release buzz surrounding their upcoming films presents an interesting comparison.
Vishwak Sen is set to return to theatres this weekend with “Funky”, directed by Jathi Ratnalu fame KV Anudeep. The film’s team has gone all out with promotions, including interviews, events, and digital campaigns. However, the online response has remained lukewarm so far. According to BookMyShow, Funky has garnered around 12.1K user interests ahead of its release.
In contrast, Santosh Sobhan’s “Couple Friendly”, directed by Ashwin Chandrasekar and produced by UV Concepts, is scheduled to hit screens a day later. Despite relatively muted pre-release publicity, the film has managed to generate stronger traction on ticketing platforms. BookMyShow currently shows 22.1K users expressing interest in Couple Friendly, nearly double the interest registered by Funky.
Ultimately, these early online indicators offer only a partial picture. The real test will begin once both films release in theatres, with box-office numbers revealing how much this pre-release interest translates into actual footfalls.
