Brother kills brother, their wives contest against each other

The Jharkhand state’s Jharia will witness figuratively a vicious electoral battle with Rajini Singh and Poornima Singh contesting from Congress and BJP respectively. The 2014 case of the present MLA, Sanjeev Singh, is currently behind bars in connection with the murder case of his cousin Niraj Singh, who was also a former deputy mayor.

During 2014, Sanjeev contested on a BJP ticket and won by a margin of 30,000, defeating Niraj who had contested on a Congress ticket. But Niraj as shot down on the behest of Sanjeev and he surrendered at Dhanbad police station regarding the same. It is reported that now the wife of Sanjeev Singh Ragini is fielded on a BJP ticket and on the other hand, Niraj’s widow, Poornima, is contesting on a Congress ticket.

The heated matter has magnified a bit more when late Niraj’s younger brother Harsh Singh said, “Jharia has been treated as ancestral property. Anyone who comes in the way is eliminated by ‘a family’, referring to Sanjeev Singh family. He claimed that “Dhanbad is such a place where his elder brother Niraj was killed in the ‘busiest steel gate’. He said the reason could be because Niraj was becoming a political threat for the MLA.

It is believed that Purnima’s late husband Niraj, though lost the electoral battle, has won people’s love and affection and he was fondly remembered as an amicable person. Probably, the why Sanjeev felt threatened with Niraj’s growing popularity and allegedly killed Niraj in 2017.

Now their wives are on full fire in winning, with the same grudge and power. And the sources say that the people of Jharia are feared to vote on December 16 keeping violent pat in the mind. However, Poornima urged everyone to vote for the best representative and stated that if she wins, she will fight out on the basic issues like lack of water and road, and undermine the fire raging since the last nine decades.
