Family entertainers make better satellite business. And if the film is of a star hero, it will make much bigger business. Demand was high for satellite rights of Telugu-Tamil bilingual movie Oopiri (Thozha in Tamil), since it was a hit at box office and has two popular stars Nagarjuna and Karthi in it.
As per a grapevine, the Vamsi Paidipally directorial film satellite rights for both Telugu and Tamil versions were sold out to Sun Network for Rs.12 crores. This is indeed biggest price individually for both Nagarjuna and Karthi.Oopiri is one of the most memorable films in Nagarjuna’s career as said by the actor. Tamannah Bhatia played female lead in the comedy-drama film produced by Prasad Vara Potluri whose latest movie Brahmotsavam starring Mahesh Babu is due for release on May 20th.
Oopiri collected around Rs 50 crore in Telugu as well as Tamil. The movie performed exceptionally well in multiplexes and urban areas, wherein it was decent in rural areas.Since Nagarjuna liked Vamsi’s making skills, he gave him another chance to direct his younger son Akkineni Akhil.
