Boyapati Sreenu is regarded as the biggest mass director in Tollywood as of now. His blockbusters like Bhadra, Tulasi, Simha, Legend, Sarrainodu, Jaya Janaki Nayaka and recent ‘Akhanda’ stand as big examples. He is known for his mass masala entertainers which makes the frontbenchers go crazy. No film of Boyapati’s has won the love of film critics but action lovers and fans of star heroes usually love seeing his elevation scenes and gravity-defying action sequences.
After a debacle like ‘Vinaya Vidheya Rama’, the star director bounced back with Balakrishna’s ‘Akhanda’. The film was filled with violence and action but people loved it for some reason. Now that his ‘Skanda’ with Ram Pothineni is all set to release on September 15th, people are curious to know if he can deliver a hit with a young hero. Boyapati made ‘Dhammu’ with NTR which was a failure and people criticized that it was way over-the-top. He made ‘Vinaya Vidheya Rama’ with Ram Charan and he received the same complaints.
Even ‘Jaya Janaki Nayaka’ too did not impress a lot of people. Boyapati Sreenu is known for his gravity-defying scenes but one cannot make the same kind of film with every hero. Many say that the films that work with Balakrishna will not work with young heroes. The promos of ‘Skanda’ too promise over-the-top action and Boyapati mark dialogues from Ram this time. The ‘Ready’ hero is known for his youthful looks and we need to see if people accept him as a Boyapati hero or not.
We need to see if Boyapati had a change of style in terms of the story or if he followed the same template of filmmaking once again. Sreeleela is the heroine in this movie while Thaman is the music composer. There is a decent buzz on this movie.
