Can ‘SPY’ Create Magic Like ‘Karthikeya 2’?

Nikhil created a sensation last year with ‘Karthikeya 2’. No one expected the film to become a huge pan-Indian flick. The response for the film outside the Telugu states made the makers start promoting it in the North too. Nikhil Siddharth is arriving this year with ‘SPY’ which is an action thriller that is made on a grand budget.

There is a lot of curiosity surrounding Nikhil’s upcoming action thriller ‘SPY’. The promotional content has raised the expectations heavily and it is all set to hit the screens worldwide on 29th July. The movie deals with the sensitive subject of India’s best-kept secret about freedom fighter Subhash Chandra Bose. Garry BH is the director of this movie and people are eager to see what Nikhil and team have in store for us. The movie was given a ‘U/A’ certificate by the censor board with zero cuts. The final duration is 2:15 hours and it’s a perfect runtime for a movie of the spy genre.

It looks like the team of ‘SPY’ has opted for a similar promotional strategy to ‘Karthikeya 2’. They are not really going across cities in India and have relied on their output to speak for itself. They are hoping that the positive word of mouth is going to be enough. The advance bookings in areas like Delhi, Bombay and other cities are not that great and it was allotted a limited number of theatres.

Same is the situation with other cities in the South as well. The booking in the Telugu states are quite decent but not great. ‘SPY’ definitely needs positive talk to increase the occupancy and achieve pan-Indian success like the team desired. We need to wait and see if it happens or not.

Producer K Rajashekhar Reddy penned a novel script that is very informative and he made the movie on a high budget with elite production values. Aryan Rajesh will be seen as Nikhil’s brother in this movie. Iswarya Menon is the leading lady opposite Nikhil and Sanya Thakur will be seen as the second lead in the movie playing a powerful role.
