From now, Celebrities need to be more cautious before signing any private brand to endorse. Their misleading advertisements can push them into unwanted troubles for promoting a worthless or unsafe product for customers.
A Parliamentary committee is recommending upto 5 years jail term and 50 lakh rupees fine for any brand ambassador whose endorsing results against consumer protection bill. We have large number of celebrities into endorsing many brands, out of which, many irk customers like fairness creams to lucky bands. Now, if this recommendation turns into act, brand ambassadors need to check facts and worth before signing on the dotted lines.
Well, in Government’s view, not just manufacturer but a brand promoter must be made to pay for false claims made by manufacturer to sell their product. Let us see, how many of our film and cricket celebrities opt out of brand endorsing in near future.
